McDonald’s Challenge (cont.)

Several people have commented - and a few websites have already began making simular lifestyle changes for the month of November. I’m encouraging other site administrators and bloggers to step up to the plate. Put your money where your mouth is — let’s stop consuming crap and force ourselves to start eating healthy again.

The $100 Dollar McDonald’s Challenge

My buddy Randolph and I had a conversation tonight. We desire to have a body like Ryan Reynolds. You might remember him from the horror movie, The Amityville Horror (2005), action flick Blade Trinity(2004), and of course — one of my favorite college movies, Van Wilder(2002).
Ryan Reynolds - McDonalds Challenge

Yes, at the peak of his workout and training he had a 3% body fat (almost considered malnutrition by health studies!) …

Well, Scottie and I might never look like him completely - but our discussion did encourage me to go to the gym tonight. After an hour workout - I realized I had once again gotten completely out of shape! How could this have happened? I had worked so hard to gain muscle mass and lose weight! Truth is - I am probably weaker right now than I have ever been. I’m almost at an all time low as far as body wieght goes, so I am sure that I have lost mainly muscle!

This series of events has begun what I would like to call the $100 Dollar McDonald’s Challenge! Part of my reason for falling out of shape has been poor eating habits and a lackluster outlook on life. I would say that I have been depressed over several things that I can’t control in my life and have resorted to McDonalds, Burger King, and Sonic as fuel sources. Why? Eat a greasy double cheeseburger and see — its satisfying. It’s instant gratification. It _feels_ good. Too bad fourty-five minutes later you lose your sugar-induced buzz and are reduced to an even lower state of unhappiness. It’s the legal crack-cocaine of our generation.

McDonalds is Evil - $100 Dollar McDonalds Challenge

I am proposing this - every person who comments to this article must name a charity. If I eat McDonald’s, Burger King, or Sonic (or another fast-food entity aside from Subway) during the month of November, I will count up the charities and divide one hundred dollars of my hard earned dollars and will donate it to those organizations equally.

Only one charity per reader, please. The goal is to not fail! I can’t afford to lose 100 dollars. I also can’t afford to continue to put crap into my body. *thinking to self* There is no turning back now Craig, hit Submit on this post and start this …

Update: Several people are wanting to take on this challenge themselves. One of the most important parts of this challenge in accountibility - read here and submit your site via trackback or comment so we have an idea of how many people are willing to ante up…

Thursday, yet seems like Friday.

Today so seems like Friday - everyone in my office is in a good mood and high spirited. Some of them are even wearing blue jeans, I dont understand - I must have missed the memo! One of the girls in the office just had her last radiation treatment, so I believe that is the reason for celebration.

I brought in two dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the employees. I plan on staying away from them. I weighed this morning. 183.4 lbs. This is a new low for me, like, ever.

I’m eating healthy and running every day. I ran a mile in 10:11 last night, which is a vast improvement over the 11 minute mile on Monday. I am not eating crap either. All I have had is food that promotes healthy energy sources: lots of grains, peanut butter, and proteins.

While i’m not ready to run any type of triathlon, I am seeing this as something I will continue to do for a while and hopefully will continue to see some benefit in it!

I stink …

I stink in more ways then one…

I just completed my first workout in a _long_ time.

It was obvious too - I was barely able to run a mile in under 11 minutes. I know all of you guys that have been training for this triatholon will laugh at that number. I ran 1.0 miles in 10:54. Pathetic. Sweat was dripping everywhere. Thank God for the Apple Ipod. Otep + Chimaira + Slipknot + working out is like feeling hell surround you.

For my own personal goal tracking, tonight I completed:

  • 1 Mile run - 10:54
  • 4x sets of curls
  • 4x set of shoulder press
  • 50 sit-ups

Why am I doing this right now? I dont want to ever be referred to as “Pudgy” or “Fat”. Not that I feel like I am - or that anyone really means it when they say it — but I want that to be the most distant thought in their minds…

When I got really into working out a year or two ago, I remember thinking of food as an energy source (as corny as this sounds - like an energon cube from The Transformers © cartoon. Tomorrow I am going to begin intaking only healthy energy sources instead of food sucks the life out of you. I am kicking McDonald’s, Burger King, and my new favorite, Little Ceasars to the curb! No more snicker bars, candy corn, or Pop Tarts either.

I’m taking pictures but will not show them until I have some improvement to compare them too… Until then, lets look at some old pics of me just for the heck of it…

Sorry the old pictures suck in quality, but they are purely examples …
