Purpose Driven Blog
I can’t claim the title of this post - my good friend Scott Randolph gave me some inspiration for this….
So what on Earth are you here for? That big party thats coming up in two or three weekends? Do you wake up every morning and find yourself questioning - “Why am I even getting up out of the bed?” …
I’ll be honest, I’ve been there. My life’s purpose was never very clear. It seemed like with High School and College it was so easy - there was always something going on! You just kind of float around from one minor event to the next. Parties to class to driving home for the weekend to class to …
But guess what? When you step off that platform and you finish the last hurrah known as graduation, things change. Don’t get me wrong, real life can be exciting at the beginning. You’re searching for the perfect job and you find it. You’re searching for the perfect apartment and you find it. You’re looking for the perfect clothes and furniture and car and ….
That works for a little while — but you eventually run out of “stuff” and life becomes “mundane”.
This, my friends, is where I was when I realized I needed some help. I was struggling not having something to do all the time. I felt like I was waking up each morning just to survive and there were times I found myself just wishing I was dead instead of sustaining life … but then I realized something.
It all starts with God
Life is more than trying to create some utopian happiness. It’s more than acquiring massive amounts of wealth. It’s more than buying new cellphones and fancy cars. What you say? I’m serious. You can’t fill the void in your life with those things!
Without God life makes no sense
Before you were born, your purpose was laid out to be part of something much more larger than your everyday boring existance! How do you discover this purpose? You discover it through Jesus Christ!
Now, Craig, how can you be saying all of this?
First, I used to be embarrassed to say I was a “Christian” or that I even trusted God. Why? Pride. Giving in and praising God seemed very fake to me. People would always say “I’m praying for you” and I found myself thinking - “No your not, Your just saying that to be polite or politically correct for my situation” … I thought that those people couldn’t “handle” the stress of the real world so they _made up_ some diety that just magically makes things better …
Again, this was me… but it no longer is me…
I’ve realized a few things about my purpose. Why have I been so successful? Why have the trials in my life lead me to this point? I honestly believe that making posts like this and sharing my beliefs is a major part of my purpose! Let’s face it guys, God didn’t give me the best social skills set. He gave me pretty good looks and a decent personality, but I’m not a salesman! I’m a computer nerd! My purpose is to reach my friends, family, and random other people through this site!
I want to share with you the message of a savior who died for every thing that you and I have done wrong.
We each have a seperate purpose for God. God made some of us good marketers, sales people, politicians, bankers, teachers, and farmers. He gave some of us addictive personalities and charming looks. He made some of us tall and others short - we are a unique formula of physical and social proportions explicitly designed to serve, worship, and praise God!!!
I encourage you to think about your purpose in life - if things are good in your life right now, maybe its hard to believe these words. If you are sitting on rock bottom or you feel like its just not worth it anymore (and trust me, i’ve been there) - I beg you to consider turning your life over to Christ and letting him show you - through prayer, faith, and worship - what your purpose on this crazy planet is! You want happiness? You want something to wake up for? Try serving an Incredible loving God! Shooting out of bed in the morning, even bad mornings don’t really seem that bad!
Are you looking for good resources to learn more about Christ and your purpose?
I’ll post some soon. I want to get some scripture to back up what is being said as well.
Right now I suggest you just grab the one true resource that will never let you down - The Holy Bible. In it you can find answers to all of your questions and concerns. It is truely the word of God.
Also, one of my favorite books (not to be substituted for the Bible though) is Rick Warren’s book - “The purpose driven life”. I found it to be thought provoking and an inspiration for this post!
